PostePay is the prepaid card of Poste Italiane, Italy’s national postal service — and Italy’s single most-used payment method. It’s a genuine, hugely popular card, but it’s issued to Italian residents only, in euros, and tied to Italy’s post offices and banking system. A New Zealand player can’t get one or use it. This page explains what PostePay is and what to use instead.
It is written to inform, not to promote. Nothing here recommends gambling or any particular operator. “PostePay” and “Poste Italiane” are used for identification only.

What PostePay Is
PostePay is a reloadable prepaid card issued by Poste Italiane, the Italian post office. It comes co-branded with Visa or Mastercard, so it works like a normal card at shops, online and at ATMs — but the balance is limited to what you load onto it. It’s enormously popular: there are more than 30 million PostePay cards in circulation, making it the most-used payment method in Italy.
There are two main versions. PostePay Standard is a straightforward prepaid card. PostePay Evolution goes further, adding a full Italian IBAN so users can receive salaries, make SEPA bank transfers and pay bills — effectively a lightweight Italian bank account. Both are firmly built around the Italian market.
Why It Isn’t a NZ Option
Italian residents only. You get a PostePay card through Italian post offices, as an Italian resident meeting local ID requirements. It isn’t issued in New Zealand.Euros, not NZD. The card runs in euros and (for Evolution) on an Italian IBAN — there’s no NZD, so a Kiwi player would face conversion even in the impossible case of obtaining one. It’s a prepaid card. Like any prepaid card, it’s designed to be loaded and spent — a funding tool rather than a way to receive casino payouts.
So there’s no practical “PostePay withdrawal” for a New Zealand player.
What NZ Players Use to Cash Out
For a New Zealand player, the methods designed for this market are the ones to use:
Bank transfer — straight to your NZ bank account, best for larger cash-outs.A Visa or Mastercard debit card — linked to your bank, widely accepted. An NZD e-wallet (Skrill, Neteller) — the fastest fiat route, with a native NZD balance so there’s no conversion.
Each is available in New Zealand, supports New Zealand dollars, and can actually receive a payout.
Playing From New Zealand
Whatever method you choose, the operator behind it matters most. From 1 December 2026, under the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026, only operators licensed by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) may lawfully offer online casino games to New Zealanders. All online gambling is strictly R18. A casino listing a single-country card is a sign its cashier isn’t tailored to NZ. Our casino bonuses guide explains how offers work.
Staying in Control: Responsible Play in Aotearoa
Whichever method you use, the fundamentals are the same: set limits before you play and never gamble with money you can’t afford to lose. Regulated operators must provide control tools such as deposit limits, reality checks and self-exclusion. See our self-exclusion tools guide.
Free, confidential help is available in New Zealand at any time — you do not need to be in crisis to use it.
Factual information disclaimer
This article is provided for general information only. It does not encourage gambling, does not recommend any operator, and is not legal or financial advice.
Gambling involves financial risk and can be harmful. PostePay is a legitimate prepaid card from Poste Italiane, issued to Italian residents in euros; it is not available in New Zealand and offers no NZD support. Availability and coverage change over time. Confirm current withdrawal options with the casino. From 1 December 2026, only DIA-licensed operators may lawfully serve New Zealand players. All online gambling is strictly R18.
If gambling is affecting you or someone you know, free and confidential support is available: the Gambling Helpline Aotearoa on 0800 654 655 or at gamblinghelpline.co.nz, and the New Zealand regulator, the Department of Internal Affairs, at dia.govt.nz.

Can I use PostePay in New Zealand?
No. PostePay is issued to Italian residents through Italian post offices, in euros. It isn’t available in New Zealand and doesn’t support NZD, so a Kiwi player can’t get or use one.
Is PostePay legitimate?
Yes — it’s run by Poste Italiane, Italy’s national postal service, and is the most widely used payment method in Italy with over 30 million cards. The issue for NZ players is availability, not legitimacy.
Could I withdraw winnings to PostePay?
Not as a NZ player. Beyond being unavailable here, it’s a prepaid card — designed to be loaded and spent, rather than to receive payouts.
What should I use instead?
For withdrawals, a bank transfer, a Visa or Mastercard debit card, or an NZD e-wallet like Skrill or Neteller — all available locally and designed for NZ players.
Where can I get help if gambling becomes a problem?
Free, confidential support is available in New Zealand through the Gambling Helpline Aotearoa on 0800 654 655. Support is available at any time, and you do not need to be in crisis to reach out.
