About us

Casino Apps NZ (casino-apps.nz) is an information and comparison site about casino apps and mobile casino play in New Zealand. We explain how the apps work on iPhone and Android, what New Zealand law says, how payments and bonuses operate, and what to check before you trust an operator with your money.

We are not a casino. We do not run games, hold player accounts, take deposits or pay out winnings. Our job is to describe how things work so that adults can make their own informed decisions.

What we do

On the site you will find overviews of individual casino brands, guides to deposits and withdrawals, plain-language explanations of bonus terms, and coverage of New Zealand’s gambling rules, including the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026. Everything is written so that someone new to the subject can follow it.

We put particular effort into three things:

  • Explaining technical terms such as wagering requirements, RTP, volatility and account verification in everyday language.
  • Setting out the facts on licensing, ownership and legal status neutrally, without telling you what you “should” do.
  • Keeping pages current as operators open, close, change their terms or leave the New Zealand market.

Our principles

All content on the site rests on three principles: it should be accurate, transparent and easy to understand.

Accurate. We check details against primary sources, such as the Department of Internal Affairs, New Zealand legislation, the public registers of overseas licensing bodies and operators’ own published terms. If we cannot confirm a claim, we leave it out. Details that change often, such as bonus amounts and payout times, are described as things to confirm with the operator, not as fixed facts.

Transparent. Some links from this site to gambling operators are commercial (affiliate) links, which means the site may be paid if a reader signs up through them. These arrangements do not change what we report about an operator’s licence, terms or legal position in New Zealand. A listing or rating on this site is not a guarantee and is not a personal recommendation.

Easy to understand. We write in short paragraphs, use tables where they make comparisons clearer, and avoid industry jargon unless we explain it first.

The editorial team

The content on Casino Apps NZ is written and reviewed by a small editorial team that works with fact-checked, informative content.

Malcolm Brightwell – editor and responsible publisher. Malcolm writes and edits the guides and brand overviews on the site. He is responsible for making sure that what we publish is factually correct, kept up to date and in line with our editorial principles and New Zealand’s gambling rules.

How we use AI

Parts of our content are produced with the help of AI tools, including Claude from Anthropic (claude.ai), which support our research and drafting. All material is reviewed, fact-checked and edited by our editorial team before it is published, and responsibility for what appears on the site always rests with us. Our AI policy describes the process in more detail.

Gambling for money always carries risk and can lead to harm. Online casino gambling in New Zealand is for people aged 18 and over. Only play with money you can afford to lose, and never treat gambling as a way to earn money.
